Having now returned to The Land, Imo had arranged for us to do some Rangoli patterns on the ground around the site. Two ladies who work for Imo set out the dot pattern very quickly then made a beautiful pattern joining up the dots, it was one Imo hadn't seen before. She left it for us to practice on a sheet of paper then set out marking our own dots and doing our own patterns, well that was interesting. We were all a bit competitive and as you can see from the pictures we did a good job. We then filled in the one done by the Indian Women.
In the afternoon we helped make the curry for the evening meal, and had a go at making ........
It was all cooked using fire under a brick stove.
The next day Imo took us to a block printing workshop and jewellery makers, both run by women, but employed men to do the work, well to say it was another day of amazement is an understatement, the pattern being put on a roll of material with such precision first a gold pattern then added the red, these are real craftsmen. Then we went to the jewellers, all hand made silver, I just had to buy a ring.
Along with some of the block printing blocks that were being sold off. Julie will be pleased!!
Imo then took us into Bangalore, 7 women shopping in one of the main busy streets, full of colour, smells and noise of a really busy part of town. We perused the shops mainly buying things for people's school projects, one thing I didn't need as Peter Farringtion had already done this when he visited a few years earlier.
Our trip in a tutut to buy spices. Notice what it was called!
