An amazing week

Hello everyone,

We had an incredible five days in year 4 this week. The children had a wonderful time meeting Jam the juvenile Tyrannosaurus Rex and also going on their trip to Athelhampton House (photos at the end of this blog).

The children also had lots of Macbeth rehearsal time and impressed Mr MacBean on Friday with the performance so far. Having not seen the play before, he was able to give some great advice as an audience member. Mr MacBean's key advice is for children to please project their voices. I have been trying to get them to do this for a few weeks but any additional practice or encouragement from you would be appreciated!

It was great talking to many of you this week during the parents' evenings. We always value the input from families and based on feedback from you we have sent out the kit list for Hooke Court so that you can start organising equipment you may need. Next term, we will also be sending spellings booklets. These should hopefully be harder to lose than individual sheets and will contain other spelling activities. The booklets will have spaces for POW staff to add spelling errors that we notice children making during their writing in class.

The children will bring home paper copies of the booklets next term, but online versions can be found below. We will advise what spellings we are working on as the spellings are generally practised over a two week period in mine and Mr MacBean's spelling group (so the booklet will be used in Spring 2 and Summer 1). The booklet for Mrs Bernard's group is just for Spring 2.

For this week's home learning we would like the children to use purple mash to write a biography of someone of their choice. The person can be real or imagined.
Children are also encouraged to continue learning their lines whilst projecting their voices and to practice spellings (using ed shed) and their times tables. As discussed with many of you this week, if your child is struggling with one of the tables, click the button can be a good way for them to learn the tables before returning to TTRS.

Macbeth
As you know the Macbeth performance is on Wednesday. Please refer to the letter sent to you via email about the details of the event. Please get in touch if you have any questions or comments.

Kind regards,
Ms Browne, Mr MacBean and the year 4 team.
