Year 4 - News and Home Learning - 5th July 2019

Home learning and News - Year 4 - Summer Week 10
5th July 2019

SAMBA AND SPORTS
This Tuesday (9th July) year 4 will be entertaining you with their Samba Drumming and Sports day.  Please arrive for 1:30pm. Please can your child bring in a brightly coloured t-shirt to wear for the performance?  Afterwards you can come and watch our sports afternoon, starting with skills on the playground followed by races on the field.  We look forward to seeing you there!

SWIMMING
The next two Wednesdays we will be having our last two swimming sessions in year 4.  We would like to make next week a fun session of lifesaving and playtime. Part of the lifesaving experience involves swimming in your pyjamas!  Please bring a pair of pyjamas (not a onesy) to swimming on Wednesday (10th July).

On Wednesday 17th July we would like to invite you to come and watch our year 4 swimming gala.  You are welcome to come and watch from 2pm, you will be free to take your child straight home afterwards from the pool.  Please pack 2 towels for your child for this event so that they have one dry one to sit at the side of the pool.

COSTUMES

We are hoping to do a little bit of filming this week, starting on Monday.  We would like the children to have one last costume to dress up in! This would be a costume showing what they would like to be when they grow up, eg a white coat for a vet, a police outfit, a suit or jacket and briefcase, etc and something to make them look old eg a wig, scarf, pair of glasses, flat cap or walking stick.  Please bring this to school on Monday in a named bag.  Filming will be happening from Monday throughout next week.

HOME LEARNING
Given that we are in the middle of i-sports fortnight I would like the children to bring in something that represents their favourite sport.  They should be able to talk about the object or photo of the object without giving away the sport it represents. We will conduct our very own Question of Sport next week in class and take some photos of the objects so that you can guess too.  Please feel free to write down some clues if it is a hard one!

OPEN AFTERNOON
The children would love to show you their memories of Hooke Court during our open afternoon on Thursday 18th July.  Please come along and see what we really got up to on our adventure!

Please remember:
READING, Times Tables Rockstars, Mathletics, AR Reading Quizzes and Purple Mash which can all be accessed at home to support your learning in school.
