Spring term update!

Hello!

Welcome back to the second term of Year 4! This term poses to be an exciting, yet busy one. Children have all come back refreshed and ready to learn.

We have dived straight into our topic this term which is WW2! All children are fully engaged with this topic and are showing lot of willingness. This week we have focused on what it would be like to be an evacuee during these times. Diary entries have been written and pieces of drama were also created. The posters and facts that children brought in were FANTASTIC, thank you.

In Maths this week we have been looking at addition and subtraction and using the column method to solve different difficulties of calculations.

Art focused on making propaganda posters, which will be displayed around the classroom once finished. We are all very impressed with the results.

Jigsaw (PSHE) looked at our dreams and goals and how achievable these may be. Children asked if they could make motivational posters to put around the school which focussed around the motto of 'If you believe in yourself you can achieve'.

We have also started to rehearse songs for the Music Concert which will take place on 2nd March. Different schools around Dorchester will be taking part in this. It was a brilliant first rehearsal.

I have realised that I didn't write in the newsletter about Parent Information Morning which is coming up on 16th Jan at 9am in the staff room. Everyone is welcome so please come along.

Lastly, we are launching Times Table RockStars again on Monday. Practising times tables are very important in Year 4 as at the end of the year we have a check on these which has now become a compulsory part of the curriculum. More details on this check to follow.

Have a lovely weekend!
The Year 4 Team
