Year 4 Celebrations, learning and reminders!
Home Learning is week was to:
continue practising your times tables,
complete your mathletics tasks,
learn your spellings from last week (we are doing them this week as we were only in class 3 days last week!) They are focussing on letter strings with alternate pronunciations: ear, ought, ice, au. Use all the strategies we have practised in class to help you learn them.
Last week in numeracy and the beginning of this week we were looking at measure, in particular converting between units of measure - mm to cm, cm to mm, etc in all areas of measure (length, mass and capacity) Can you find ways of practising this at home using scales, rulers, tape measures, empty bottles and measuring jugs?
There will be a letter coming home on Wednesday with details about our day out NEXT MONDAY! (No cost involved and hot dinners ordered will be provided with a packed lunch).
Thank you to the children who went to DMS today as ambassadors for PoW. They did an excellent job at reporting back to the class about life in Year 5!
Congratulations to Charlotte and Emily who took part in the bubble run this week-end! We are very proud of you for running for a great cause.
Congratulations too to Faye and Erica who took part in her first competitive club swimming gala winning firsts and seconds. Wow - amazing girls!!!!!
A huge well done to Kitty who went back AGAIN to continue cleaning up the beach - super global citizenship qualities!!!!!
You are ALL making us and yourselves so proud - well done!
Finally, to clarify, the cake sale is on the last day of this term - FRIDAY 25th MAY at 3:30. Please bring fairy cakes or one large cake with a regal theme in honour of the royal wedding. DO NOT FEEL PRESSURED into creating "Bake Off" cakes - we would rather see cakes decorated by the children themselves! In order to make this fair for everyone and to reduce the pressure, we will NOT be making it a competition. We didn't make cakes to celebrate our WW2 topic this year so thought it would be a great opportunity to have fun baking while combining some numeracy measure work as well.
