What a simply LOVELY first day! It was a delight to see such happy, positive, enthusiastic children!
It was also a pleasure to see so many familiar friendly faces among the parents - welcome back! A warm welcome to all of you who are new to Year 4, please do come and introduce yourselves!
The children wore their blue jumpers with pride today and were excellent role models to the rest of the school. More importantly, they took their role as a buddy very seriously and helped make their Reception Buddy's first day in school - ever - a very special and memorable one! Well done you, should be very proud, they will always remember this day! And, of course, how important you will be to them all year - keep it up!
We enjoyed hearing all about your holiday news, as well as exploring the classroom and the "Year 4 ness of being Year 4!" We discussed expectations and how our job, as part of a team, is to make sure that every one of you are ready for middle school as excellent and confident learners. Tell your families about Class Dojo and learning powers (we will be exploring this more over the next couple of days!) Finally we discussed how we have to have the right learning environment to be successful learners, and this meant to be happy! Therefore, we created and agreed upon our Class Rights and Responsibilities;they are:
We have the right to be cared for and the responsibility to care for others and our buddy.
We have the right to be safe and the responsibility not to hurt others.
We have the right to be respected and the responsibility to respect others.
We have the right to be ourselves and the responsibility to be kind to others.
We have the right to have fun and the responsibility to to stop others having fun.
We have the right to learn and the responsibility to try our best and not distract others.
Please discuss these at home and support us making a strong, consistent link between home and school.
Have a great evening and Mrs. Scott and I can't wait to see you all tomorrow!
Mrs. J and Mrs. Scott
Possibly a small typo error in the Constitution Mrs President re. 'The right to to stop others having fun' Can we adopt this clause at home?
