Home learning, next week and beyond.

 


Hello everyone,

I can't believe we are approaching the last week of the Spring term, the weeks have raced by. 

Next week the children will be completing their learning on food and digestion. They have developed a good understanding of the basic functions of digestion. 

On Friday the children will work collaboratively to create a model of the digestive system, which they will use to explain how a chocolate egg would be digested. 

From Monday the children will be writing a science fiction inspired big write, imagining that their character has shrunk and is going through someone's digestive system.

To help prepare for their big write, this week's home learning is to draw pictures and plan the main events of their story (they have started thinking about their stories in class).
Children should have come home with hard copies of the cartoon based planner sheet, although a link to the document can be accessed here or an image of page 1 is below:
 

Upcoming dates

Unfortunately, Friday's class trip has been postponed. This will now be on the first Tuesday back after Easter. 

Sunday 26th March:
Daylight saving time starts. 

Tuesday 28th March:
Mr MacBean in year 4. 

Wednesday 29th & Thursday 30th March:
Bike-ability

Friday 31st March:
Ms Browne in Year 4. 
Last Day of Spring 2 term. 

Monday 17th April:
All children return to school. 
Middle school allocations shared with parents and carers via the email you applied with.  

Tuesday 18th April:
New date for class excursion.

Monday 1st May:
Early May Bank Holiday. 

Friday 5th May:
Children going to St Osmund's Middle school to meet transition leader Ms Hudson*
Family coronation street party celebration from 1pm

Saturday 6th May:
Dorchester Town Council's Coronation Beacon lighting celebration from 5pm 

Monday 8th May:
Public holiday for the coronation. 
POW community makeover day. 

Friday 26th May:
Last day of Summer 1 term. 

Monday 5th June:
All children return to school.

Wednesday 28th - Friday 30th June:
Year 4 residential trip.  

* Please note that dates are being finalised for when children going to Dorchester middle school will meet DMS staff.
