Evacuated!

Today, we were delighted to welcome Cheselbourne First School for an immersive World War Two Experience Day at The Prince of Wales School. The children arrived as evacuees, stepping back in time to discover what life was like during wartime Britain.

Throughout the day, pupils took part in a range of hands-on activities that brought history to life:

  • 🌱 Digging for Victory with Gardener Jim – learning how people grew their own food during the war.

  • 🍰 Rationing Baking with Mrs Bernard – finding out how to make tasty treats with limited ingredients.

  • 🪖 WW2 Artefacts with Mrs Collett – exploring real wartime objects and hearing the fascinating stories behind them.

  • ⚽ WW2 Games – enjoying traditional playground games from the 1940s.

  • 🏫 WW2 Classroom Experience with Miss White – stepping into a 1940s-style classroom for a taste of wartime schooling.

The children (and staff!) had a fantastic time dressing up, learning through play, and experiencing what life might have been like for children during the Second World War.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special — especially our visiting teachers and our wonderful pupils for their enthusiasm and curiosity throughout the day.
