Year 4 Update Week 2 (including home learning)

Hello everyone,

Year 4 are continuing to enjoy learning about World War 2 this week with the class going to Nothe Fort over two days and enjoying WW2 drama using headsets and storytelling.
WW2 will continue to be the topic that much of our literacy learning will focus on next week and beyond.

Maths
In maths for the first few weeks of term we will be studying place value. Unit 1 will develop your child's understanding of place value and build their confidence in recognising, understanding and representing numbers up to 10,000.

In unit 2, your child will learn to find 1,000 more or less than a given number. They will use their understanding of place value to compare and order 4-digit numbers to 10,000. They will also round numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1,000.

Home Learning
For this week's home learning the children have been invited to either create a family tree going up to their great grandparents or to research a family member that would have been around during world war 2 and what they would have been doing at this time.  For more details click this link

As ever, if you have any questions comments or concerns please don't hesitate to email myself or Mr MacBean or talk to a member of the year 4 team.

Kind regards,
Ms Browne, Mr MacBean & the Year 4 team
