Weekend Talking point - How babies are made.

Today in our PSHE lesson we discussed the proper names for internal and external male and female body parts that are necessary for making a baby. (We also shared some of the alternative names for these body parts).

We also talked about how a baby starts to grow when a man's sperm and a woman's ovum (or egg) meet and join together. To explain this joining the exact phrase used was "This can happen when a grown up man and woman share an especially close and loving embrace which allows the sperm to be released through the penis into the vagina".

No more details were discussed and the children did not ask questions about the specifics of this process.

The children may have questions relating to today's lesson over the weekend. Some children had questions about menstruation although this is is a topic that will be covered next week.

If you have any questions or concerns please get in touch.

Kind regards,
Ms Browne
