Bang! Pop! Crackle! - Onomatopoeia!!!!!!

It was lovely to see you all again after a wonderful half term - everyone returned with great enthusiasm and positive, focused attitudes ready to learn!

We began learning, then using and applying, the grid method multiplication - by the end of the week the children were challenging themselves to go for the higher level work in the context of Mrs. Johnson's corner shop!
In literacy we composed some super fire work inspired poems, using a huge success criteria list of literary tools to include!!! Pop into the cloak room to see them, along with art work to match.
The children also learned about Remembrance Day and Poppies - they then contributed to a whole class, water proof, poppy wreath to take to the Cenotaph on Monday - we then made one for each class in the school too!
During Science we took the journey of food to an even deeper level and learned about healthy balanced diets, food groups and their jobs in our bodies (home learning to follow on this, coming home on Monday). The children used the BBC good food website to plan a healthy balanced meal, then explaining their choice relating to the food groups and the benefits for our bodies! We talked about the "big picture" for this, and how we will be researching different dietary needs next week, with the aim to design a pizza suitable for that need, then cost it out, shop for it and then make it! Yummy times to come!!!!!!

Please keep Thursday 21st November afternoon free in your diaries as we are planning our VE Day party/tea dance!

We look forward to seeing you pop in to lessons next week if you are able to make it ( Monday morning we are out,) If you would like to join us for a particular lesson, pop in to see our timetable or come and ask!

Next week we will be auditioning for The Christmas Play - Peter Pan. Every child in Year 4 will have a speaking part, however if they would like to try out for a part with more lines then they need to bring in (or learn) a piece of poetry/prose/drama that they have practised ready to show us (the judging panel!) on Wednesday!

A huge thank you to Mr. Ray who came in today to give us a super talk all about WW2 and gave us a fun quiz!!!!!!!!

Finally, Play Time Warden hats have arrived and I look forward to training the successful team next week as well as them doing an assembly to introduce their role to the school! Well Done!!!!!

The Year 4 Team
