Important notice about class trips, home learning and other dates

This week's class trip

We have our class trip on Wednesday 22nd May. All children have been given a paper copy of the trip letter which was emailed to you electronically. If you haven't already, please could you use school gateway to give your consent to your child attending the trip.

We will be leaving at 8.45am so could all children arrive at school on Wednesday at 8.30am please.

Children should bring:
- water bottle
- healthy snack
- swimming costume
two sets of clothes for the day -  of clothes that you are happy to get wet and / or muddy:
trainers and tracksuit trousers or shorts; hoodie or jumper; lightweight rain jacket
- towel

Class experience after half term
In the week directly after half term, we have our overnight class activity. If you haven't already, please can you return the paper consent forms that have been sent home by Friday 24th May. If you have any questions about this activity please speak to a member of the team.

Home learning
This week's home learning is for the children to practice times tables and start reflecting on which tables they still need to learn. They have been given a paper sheet of tables to complete and have also been sent a purple mash times tables 2Do to complete.
After half term there will be the national year 4 multiplication tables check. It would be wonderful if all the children could practice and prepare for this test as much as possible but more importantly, it will benefit your child to have a secure recall of tables going into year 5.

Parents of children going to DMS

Dear parents of children going to DMS.

Please can you talk to your child about which children they would like to go to middle school with this evening or on Thursday evening.

This Friday, they will be given a slip to choose up to 5 children. Whilst we cannot guarantee that they will be able to go up with every child, every effort will be made to ensure that they will transition with one of children on their list

If you have any concerns about friendship choices please email Ms Browne ASAP.

Roundhouse building and Home Learning

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all well and are enjoying the sunshine. The children have certainly enjoyed being able to explore the different outside areas that we have at POW.
Next week, we will be building another very special and unique feature of our school site.

On Monday and Tuesday, children across the school will be involved in building a new roundhouse in our forest school area. As the oldest children in the school, year 4 has been given the privilege of starting the build on Monday morning and finishing it on Tuesday afternoon.

On Monday, please could ALL children come to school in outdoor clothing suitable for the weather (forecast is currently rainy). Sturdy shoes are preferable to ensure safety during the workshop and clothes usually worn for forest school activities that you don't mind getting dirty would be best.
Children should also bring their school uniforms and school shoes (and a change of socks?) to get changed into after they have completed their round house building.
On Tuesday, children should come to school in school uniform but should bring clothes for round house building to change into for the afternoon.

Homelearning
The home learning for this week is based on classification keys which we have been learning about in science recently. The children have been challenged to create their own classification keys based on anything they like. It could be vehicles, food items or even imaginary creatures.
Every child should have come home with a paper home learning sheet but if yours didn't make it home, an electronic copy can be found here.  If you or your child need a reminder of how a classification key works you may like to look at this video
