Year 4 - Spring Term - A sneak peak - 31st December 2018
Next term promises to be lots of fun in year 4. We have a few weeks to complete our World War II topic (as it seemed to get eaten up by Christmas) and then we dive straight into the Human Digestive system! We have our fly to the line STEM competition to complete and will be heading to Florida (courtesy of POW airlines) to find out more about the life of Sea Turtles. We will have the opportunity to investigate animals and plants further with special expert help in class and from visiting parents. We also have a Science week at the end of term. Can't wait!!
Year 4 - Pencil Cases at the ready - 31st December 2018
As we are now well into year 4 and in preparation for middle school I would like to invite everyone to bring in their own pencil cases to begin the new term. So if Father Christmas brought you some stationary or if you are heading to the sales, perhaps have a look for a pencil case to bring into school for the start of the new term! I got a rather nice sequined number (thank you - you know who you are!) Some useful things might include: Pencils, Pencil Crayons, A rubber, Pencil Sharpener, small ruler and a handwriting pen (we like the Berol ones, but any pen that makes your writing look neat is acceptable). We are also planning a few changes to the layout of the classroom on your return... #growingup.
Year 4 - Bye Bye 2018, Hello 2019 - 31st December 2018
Well, after finally waking up from a much needed sleep I've finally got around to thanking you all for a fabulous Autumn term and your kind Christmas gifts and cards. I hope you all enjoyed Christmas and it is now time to look forward to a new term. We have achieved so much already in year 4 and a new year brings new challenges! Onwards and upwards in 2019, and enjoy the rest of your well deserved holiday.

Year 4 - Swimming Tomorrow - 18th December 2018
We will be swimming tomorrow, sorry for the confusion with an earlier news letter. Year 4 will be unwinding with a playtime in the pool, well deserved after a busy term.

Year 4 - Swimming - 13th December 2018 for 19th December 2018
There will be a swimming lesson for year 4 next week, as we are lucky enough to have an afternoon slot now we are able to maintain this with year 4 up to the last week of term. So please bring your swimming kits next Wednesday (19.12.18) and you will be having some fun in the pool as a reward for working so hard in the pool this term! (Please note that Year 3 are unable to swim next week though).
Year 4 - Christmas Goings On - 13th December 2018
A few things to remember over the last few days of term:
The spirit of Christmas is finding its way into the year 4 classroom. As well as working hard to complete our extended writing challenge we have been problem solving to see who can make the longest paper chain out of one sheet of reused scrap paper. We have discovered so far that making the links as thin as possible is the way to go. We have managed a 3m length out of one sheet so far... Can you beat it?
Reminders: Tomorrow is Christmas Technology day, Christmas Jumper day and the POWSA Christmas Fair. Please send your child in Christmassy clothes in return for a Tombola prize for the fair.
On Monday and Tuesday we will be having Technical and Dress Rehearsals for the Christmas Production of "Ebenezer" so if you haven't yet brought in your costume, please bring in as soon as possible. Please see a member of the team if you are finding it tricky, we may be able to help out!
On Tuesday the children taking part in readings at the carol service will be attending a rehearsal during the day. They will be back at school for 3:30pm. Thank you to all the year 4's who have volunteered. We will be letting you know who is reading on Monday.
We will be swimming next Wednesday (please see separate blog).
Next Friday is our Christmas party. There is a list of food contributions on the window by the door in year 4. Please could you come and sign up for some food for the party?

Year 4 - Carol Singers and Readers Required! - 10th December 2018
We are looking for 7 year 4 children who would be willing to do some readings for our Carol Service on Tuesday 18th December. This will require the children to attend the Carol Service in the evening (5pm-6pm), to which everyone is invited as well as a rehearsal during the day. The reception children will be enacting the nativity, so it promises to be a really magical experience! If you are coming along and your child would like to read something during the service (no learning lines this time), please come and sign up on the board outside the classroom.
