Farming in Silvepura

This afternoon, Mr Farrington worked with the Year 4 class during Farm to Fork Week. The children worked on preparing a powerpoint or word document including pictures, focusing upon similarities and differences in farming in the UK and in South India. The children were fascinated by the fact that farmers in Silvepura (the village visited by Mr Farrington in 2008 and 2012) can grow vegetables all the round, that they still use bullocks to plough single furrows in their fields and they grow a cereal crop called "Ragi", a type of millet, which forms part of their staple diet. See what the children can tell you about these photos!
