Year 4 - Week 3

We’ve had an amazing week in class! Our Romeo and Juliet rehearsals are really coming together, and the Shakespeare production is looking fantastic. Rehearsals will now continue in full force as the performance is not far away. Please can you listen to 'Love Story - Taylor Swift' as much as you can!

A reminder that all costumes need to be brought into school by Monday 2nd February – thank you for your support with this.

In Maths, we have been focusing on multiplication and division, building confidence and applying our skills in different ways. We’ve also continued our work around the book PRIDE, where the children explored how to make effective placards and discussed what they would say in a speech. There were some thoughtful and creative ideas shared.

Please note that we still have a few children without PE kits in school. Please ensure these are sent in as soon as possible.

Finally, a reminder that Parents’ Evening is coming up. Please remember to sign up if you haven’t already.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support!

Year 4 - Week 2

We’ve had another fantastic week in Year 4, full of learning and excitement. Shakespeare rehearsals are now well underway, and the children have been absolutely incredible, showing confidence, teamwork and real enthusiasm as they prepare for their performance.

In Maths, we continued our work on addition and subtraction, with a strong focus on problem-solving skills. The children worked hard to explain their thinking and apply their knowledge in different ways. In English, we carried on exploring our class text Pride, with some thoughtful discussions and excellent engagement from everyone.

In Science, we investigated how sound travels through different mediums. The children were fascinated by the experiments and asked some brilliant questions.

A real highlight of the week was our visit to Weymouth Pavilion. The children loved experiencing what it feels like to be on a real stage, which has been a wonderful confidence boost ahead of their upcoming performance.

Well done Year 4, another week to be proud of! 🌟

Sports Leaders Update

Ten Year Four pupils had a fantastic opportunity to represent our school at St Mary’s Middle School yesterday as newly appointed Sports Leaders.

During the day, the children learnt from the experienced Sports Leaders at St Mary’s, who taught them how to organise and lead a range of fun, inclusive games such as ice-breakers, capture the flag and bench ball, alongside many others. Our pupils showed great enthusiasm, teamwork and leadership as they took part in each activity.

The afternoon focused on leadership and initiative, with the Year Fours working together to plan ways to encourage more children at Prince of Wales to be active. They came up with the brilliant idea of launching their very own Prince of Wales Park Run, which will take place every Thursday lunchtime for fifteen minutes (starting soon).

The children confidently shared their plans in assembly and it was wonderful to see how many pupils were excited and keen to take part. This is just the beginning of their leadership journey, as our new Sports Leaders will also be organising and running a sports event at school for children from other schools to enjoy.

We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm, creativity and commitment to promoting healthy, active lifestyles across our school community.
