Hello everyone,
I hope you are having a good week so far. Here are a few reminders to help support you and your children this week:
Hello everyone,
We've had a busy and exciting first week of the Summer term.
This week
On Monday, the children enjoyed our special rocket day and created some fantastic inventions and watched the rocket launch.
On Tuesday, we discussed how to use search engines such as google or ecosia to research information for our Virginia schools project. It was also wonderful to see the children developing their tennis skills on the field in the spring sunshine.
On Wednesday, the children were very excited to be back in the swimming pool at 1610.
On Thursday, we started our new science topic, sound. The children enjoyed getting the chance to experience sound by feeling and observing vibrations.
Today, the children continued honing their research skills before our google meeting with the children at our partner school in Fairfax Station. The google meeting went really well and the children were fascinated to learn more about each other's lives and to see the photographs they found to show each other.Home Learning (click here for the home learning sheet)
Kind regards,
Ms Browne, Ms Williams, Mrs Thomas, Mrs Rogers, Mrs Long and Mrs Burgess

You may remember back in March, our last Lockdown #InspiredToLearn Challenge was all about Art! If you did want to get involved I will need to submit your work before Monday 26th April. Please email a jpeg of your artwork with a description by Friday 23rd April to be included.
Here is the information just in case you missed it!
A #InspiredToLearn Artistic Opportunity
Now in its third year, the Young Artists’ Summer Show is a free, open submission exhibition for students aged 5 - 19 studying in the UK and British schools overseas. Artworks are judged by artists and arts professionals with selected artworks displayed online and on-site at the Royal Academy of Arts.
We just had to get involved!
Have a look at last year’s exhibition to get #InspiredToLearn:

What is The Royal Academy Young Artists Summer Show?
Artists are at the heart of everything at the Royal Academy of Arts – they’ve been championing them since 1768 and firmly believe in nurturing young talent and celebrating the next generation of artists.
Taking inspiration from the annual Summer Exhibition, the Young Artists’ Summer Show is an opportunity for young artists aged 5 - 19 years to exhibit their work online and on-site at the Royal Academy.
The project is generously supported by Robin Hambro, a passionate advocate for the importance of access to art, and the benefits of encouraging the arts, for children and young people.
A panel of passionate and award-winning artists and arts professionals work together each year to select artworks to exhibit online and on-site at the Royal Academy.
Your artwork could be among those the judges select this year!
How do I enter?
We are registered as a school and you can submit up to 3 pieces of artwork, these can be works of art created at home or in school, in the past or something you are working on currently. They can also be collaborative pieces that have been created by you with support of a group of other children. There is no set theme or media for your artwork - It can be a painting, sculpture, photograph, installation, video, drawing, or a combination.
For each artwork submission you will need a jpeg image/s of the artwork along with details including a title, medium and a short description, child’s name and age. Please see the attached guide for taking your photos.
Send your photos to a.johnson@princeofwales.dorset.sch.uk
Please also complete the attached permission form and hand in to the school office. Your picture will then be submitted by us and you will receive confirmation via a return email from us and everyone who submits work will hear from the Royal Academy by the end of May.
The closing date for submissions is 26th April 2021
The full terms and conditions are available on the Royal Academy Website.
What happens next?
Your artwork will be seen by a panel of judges and the selected pieces will be shown in our online exhibition. Some of the artworks will also be selected to be shown at the Royal Academy of Arts in London.
Prizes
Prizes are awarded each year for two inspiring artworks from each key stage, as chosen by the President of the Royal Academy, and you can also vote for your favourite artwork in The Royal Academy’s annual People’s Choice Award.
Are you ready to be...

Hello everyone,
I hope you had a lovely Easter weekend and are enjoying the brighter Spring days.
If you are getting out and about, I just wanted to remind you to take some photographs of Dorset for us to share with our new friends in Virginia as part of our Global Classrooms Project.
The beautiful photo above was from Evie Pile and photos of the countryside, towns, roads and homes will help children of Fairview Elementary school, Virginia to get an idea of what life is like in Dorset.
Please email me any photographs (c.browne@princeofwales.dorset.sch.uk ) or have a go uploading them onto the Google forms link created for this purpose. The results from the Google forms document will also be used to show the children how to use spreadsheets on the Tuesday once we return.
Enjoy the rest of the Easter holidays.
Kind Regards,
Ms Browne
Happy Easter everyone,
I can't believe it is the holidays already. We have had such a lovely few weeks with year 4 and they have really impressed us with their attitude to their learning and how well they have settled back to the routines of school.
Swimming will start up again on the first Wednesday after Easter. I have verbally suggested to the children that they may need to check their swimming clothes over the holidays as there have been some growth spurts since the last time we went swimming in year 3. For more details please look at the Swimming letter
I hope you all have a lovely Easter.
Lots of love,
Ms Browne and the Year 4 team. xx
