Inclusive sports week and continuing the final tour!

Hello all, I am so happy to see most children back at school, it really has lifted everyone's spirits. Three weeks left and so much to fit in, it is going to fly by so hold onto your hats!

Tomorrow is the start of our three week long period of Inclusive Sports. Tomorrow we have paralympian Helen Lucas joining us to launch the event during our assembly. Year Four will also be taking part in Boccia tomorrow. Boccia is a paralympic sport and is similar to bowls.

Mr Treble will also be helping us get ready for sports day which will include sprinting, hurdles, football dribble, small ball throw, obstacle course and relay. Year Four's sports day with be Thursday 16th July in the afternoon.

Coming up this Friday is DANCE DAY. The Year Four children will be dancing to Reach - S Club 7. Unfortunately due to the current pandemic parents aren't allowed to come and watch. However, we will be filming the dances and taking lots of pictures.

The children should have come home with lyrics for two songs that we are learning. Please can you spend some time at home helping your children to learn the lyrics to these. Both songs are on Youtube and we are spending time in school working on these as well.

The Final Tour really kicks off this week. On Tuesday we have 'Tardis Tuesday' which is a look back in the POW photo archive. Wednesday we have our final trip to Maiden Castle Farm - please send your child in with wellies and a packed lunch! Thursday is 'Thursday Tunes' which is a final sing-a-long with Mr Macbean. Then as well as Dance Day on Friday we have 'Funky Friday' which is a Year 4 disco on the field and we are asking all children to dance 'FUNKY'.

Busy week coming up for all and we can't wait to make these last weeks as memorable as we can! I know I will never forget this year!!

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us.

The end is near - YEAR FOUR THE FINAL TOUR!

Wow, how do we only have 19 school days left at POW?! Time really does fly when you're having fun.

We have lots of exciting things planned for the final weeks for Year Four. You should have all had a Final Tour poster come home. We want to make sure that the end of their unsettling year is one never to be forgotten!!

For some of our planned activities we may need the children to come prepared, so we will be giving you advanced notice if we require any specific clothing or equipment for that particular day.  Unfortunately we cannot invite you into school for these events, but we will take lots of pictures which will be shared.

Tour dates
The main ones at the moment are:

26/06 - Water pistols / soakers / and squirters please - just for your own child’s use.  Oh, and a spare set of clothes and towel!
01/07 - NEW DATE ANNOUNCED - Wellie Wednesday - A trip to the farm.  Please bring your wellies and a picnic!
03/07 - Dress Funky for the outdoor DISCO!
14/07 - Another Picnic - This time in the meadow!  Let’s hope the sun shines!
17/07 - Preparation, preparation, preparation for the one and only Year Four Final Tour Talent Contest.

Leavers Assembly
We would like to formally invite you and your family bubble to come along and watch this year’s leavers assembly which will take place on the school field on Friday 17th July at 10:30am.  This year’s theme is the Oscars, so get those glad rags on, don’t forget your brolly!  You may like to bring a picnic which you will be able to enjoy during and afterwards at the aftershow party.  Social distancing between families will need to be strictly adhered to in order to run this event.  More details will be given nearer the time.

We can't wait to make the last for yours memorable for your children!

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask!

Questions about transition to Middle Schools.

Hello all,

I hope you are well and keeping safe. We are missing the Year Fours so much!! It's been amazing to see all of your work that has been produced in the Virtual School - you should all feel very proud of yourselves.

Myself and Miss Johnson have been in close contact with the middle schools these past couple of weeks. As the transition period is different this year with having to do a lot virtually we are ensuring that you all feel supported! In relation to this we are opening up a question and answer session.

If you have any questions or queries at all, please send them to myself and Miss Johnson and we will send them to the respective schools. We are going to collate questions and send them off next week.

Please remember that no question is a stupid question and any anxiety you have is perfectly normal.

Please please please send us anything!!

Miss White - a.white@princeofwales.dorset.sch.uk
Miss Johnson - a.johnson@princeofwales.dorset.sch.uk

Look forward to hearing from you soon,

Miss White and Miss Johnson x
