Year 4 Tuesday 22nd November - Important Information - please read me! (running clubbers too)

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped us on Friday during our trip to Bovington - I am sure the children didn't stop talking about it all week-end, it was such an enjoyable and informative trip peppered with many poignant moments too, putting all our learning into context relating to all wars fought.

This week we will be finishing our WW2 topic by celebrating during the tea dance on Thursday afternoon - we are very much looking forward to seeing all your baking creations and hope you can join us for a cuppa, a dance and a piece of cake!!!!! (2:30pm onwards in the school hall) WEAR WW2 EVACUEE COSTUME THIS DAY!!!!

In literacy this week we have been embarking on some cross curricular writing linked to RE. We have been learning about the nativity story in detail and are writing it in our own words...............using our linking spider learning skills to include all the literary devices we have been learning about. I can't wait to read them! During numeracy this week we are learning about coordinates: reading them, plotting them, constructing accurate axis and 4 quadrants.

Christmas has also arrived!!!!!!!! The parts for our performance have all been handed out and we cannot wait to start rehearsing. I would like to extend a HUGE thank you, in advance, for your help and support in organising your costume, we are very grateful because, as you can imagine, there are a lot of props to organise as well as directing and supporting the children - and carrying out all the fun, exciting christmas activities in school alongside all this! Thank You!!!!!!

Finally, in running club the children have been asking for a challenge, so this Thursday Mr. Gibson and I are going to run, with the members of the club, to Maiden Castle car park and back. We plan to leave school at 8:00 am sharp in order to be back at school for 8:45 am. Please speak to me about this if you have any questions, if you do not want your child to take part in this run, then please come to school at the normal time in your WW2 outfit.

Thank you for all your continued support, and thank you too for your prompt return of the home school agreement, that was much appreciated!

Last day for Operation Christmas child shoe boxes!

Just a reminder that tomorrow will be the last day that we will be taking the 'Operation Christmas child' shoe boxes at school. Mrs Mewitt has kindly said she would take the shoe boxes that people have bought in to school to the drop off point in Weymouth. So if you have a shoe box please bring them in tomorrow. Also please remember that the shoe boxes need £3 in them to support the transportation fees.

Thank you for supporting this cause

year 4 Sunday 13th November 2016.

First of all, a few well dones.................last Monday were our first awards and it was fantastic to see so many of you proudly accepting your trophies and certificates. On Wednesday, 10 children represented the school in a Tag Rugby festival where they took part in skills sessions and played matches. They won 4 matches, drew 2 and lost 1............superb!!!!!!!

We are looking forward to our trip to Bovington on Friday - a reminder that the children MUST wear school uniform but, as it is also children in need day, they can wear a spotty accessory (sensible).

A reminder that the following Thursday is our Tea Dance where the children will need to wear their evacuee costume. Bring your home learning cake/cakes in that morning and parents are invited to join us from 2:30 in the hall.

Christmas is upon us and I will be holding the singing auditions this week, it was brilliant to see so many children taking part in the acting auditions with well prepared acts!!!!!! It will be difficult to decide!

Finally, a reminder that we begin our DT project tomorrow as stated on last weeks home learning sheet and blog.

Many thanks,

Mrs. J and The Year 4 Team

All years - Christmas Cards - 2nd November 2016

Christmas card orders
We received communication today that the online ordering for the xmas cards has now failed completely. The company are reverting to paper orders and a pack is being sent to school. As far as we are aware any successful online orders are still valid but all others will need to complete paper order forms and bring money to school. This is not an ideal situation however POWSA are at hand to help you solve any issues and can take cash or cheques.

So, on Friday 4 th November and Monday 7 th November before and after school POWSA will be manning a table in the foyer where you can fill in the order forms and hand over cash or cheques.  We apologise for this inconvenience, however this is out of our control and are working hard to make the process successful!

Year 4 Wednesday 2nd November 2016 - various pieces of information

Well, it was lovely to see such enthusiastic, happy children return yesterday! I really enjoyed hearing all about the various holidays and trips out!

The children certainly are settled into year 4 and have returned with an excellent attitude to learning! Ofcourse, as well as working hard and continuing with outlearning, the excitement of Christmas will soon be upon us!!!!!!

I will be running auditions next week, during lunchtimes, for the Christmas play - sign up sheets are in the cloakroom.

Our Bovington tank Museum trip is soon, if there are any parents that would like to join us then please do ask! I will be sending home a home learning baking activity leading to our Tea Dance in the last week of November (Date TBC ASAP so that you can join us for tea, cake and dancing in celebration of VE Day) and you may also have heard about our DT topic - I will include information on the home learning sheet all about it and what might be required - LOOK OUT FOR THIS ON FRIDAY IN BOOK BAGS!!!!!!!

There are a couple of smaller events coming up that will only involve a small number of children, and if that is your child a letter will come home personally!

A reminder that if you wish to order any christmas cards (sorry about the delay for the label) then they need to be back in school by Friday!

Please could we ask that all Home/School agreement forms are returned ASAP and also if you were unable to attend the parent information evening then do pop in and ask for a 10 minute slot to see me!

Thank you!

Christmas cards order

Christmas card orders

Hopefully you have all received your child’s card design? You were given the information to order through the company directly on the back of the art work. The art work needs to come back to school to your child’s classroom, into their envelope - by Friday 4th November end of this week, ready to be sent off.

The company will be collecting on Monday 7th November from our school office, no set time has been given so it is vitally important the art work is back in the class envelope on Friday please.

We are hoping for the cards to be delivered back to school around 22nd November.
