Award assembly 22.10.15

Today we had our first of the year ‘Award assembly’. This is the assembly when we ask teachers and their teams to select children who they think have worked particularly hard during this first part of the year in subject areas; writing, reading, maths, ICT, Creative arts, PE and displaying our Citizenship qualities.  Some awards have a certificate and a trophy to keep for half a term! You may have found one of these when you got home!

For our Reception parents; the awards can stay at home with your child until we send a letter inviting it back in for our next ‘Award assembly’.

Happy half term everyone, we will see you all back on Tuesday 3rd November!

Assembly and Nothe Fort.

Wowsers!!!!! I'm sure you'll all agree the class assembly today was fantastic - well done Year 4, you were confident, clear, showed excellent acting skills and humour too!!!!!! I was VERY proud of each and every one of you!!!!!!!!!

Next Tuesday is our trip to Nothe Fort - you will need to come to school in your WW2 evacuee costume (make sure it is WARM) - don't forget your packed lunch and drink, you were given an identity tag which you will need to fill out and wear too, also bring your gas mask box as well!!!!!
Please could any parents that have spoken to me about going on the trip pop in on Monday as I may not need all of you to accompany us!

Next Thursday morning is our trip to the farm, you will need WARM WATERPROOF play clothes, wellies and coats.

Finally, don't forget there is NO SCHOOL next Friday, so spellings and times tables need to be learnt for next Thursday!!!!!!!!!

Have a great, well earned week end!

The VERY proud Year 4 team! :-)

Class Assembly

Year 4 did us proud on Friday during the Harvest cafe - well done, lots of positive comments about you all!!!!

This Friday is our class assembly - 9:20 in the school hall! Unless the children say otherwise, they will need to bring in their WW2 evacuee costume, in a named bag BEFORE Friday - so that we can check everything is present!!!!!

Last week we worked on a collaborative learning project to create a Green Procurement Policy, this was towards our Green Flag status! The children thoroughly enjoyed this and it was lovely to see them all working together with great enthusiasm, encouragement, team work, positivity and maturity - totally independently and some natural leaders began to appear!

I look forward to seeing you at running club tomorrow - still spaces left for anyone that would like to join us - the benefits are fantastic...........fitness, focus ready for learning, raised self esteem and positivity!!!!!!!!

Home Learning!

Celebration, after celebration, after celebration!!!!!! The last few days have seen some amazing pieces of home learning brought in, from WW2 projects (bread and butter pudding, models, animations, posters............), to Harvest poems and home baked bread (which we were able to sample - scrumptious!)

Today, Mr. Farrington taught us all about Indian farming in Silvepura, we deduced similarities and differences, putting our powerpoint skills into practise to express our learning! Super work!

Please ask the children to explain what a main clause, a subordinate clause and a fronted adverbial phrase is (remind them of Baby Alan crab and Mummy Suzie crab!!!!!!) we have been learning about them and I hope to see them being applied to writing!!!!!!!

In art we have been developing painting skills in the style of Georges Seurat for our Harvest art - pointilism.

In numeracy we are developing our learning about time.

We hope to see you at the Harvest assembly and/or the Harvest cafe on Friday - children are able to bring in a small amount of money on Friday in order to buy something from the cafe.

Finally, if you use the play trail after school, please could you ensure your children are supervised and in sight, this is because there are often children playing unsupervised behind our classroom and unfortunately, more recently, they have been playing with sticks from the garden area and there have been some injuries as a result.

Happy swimming tomorrow!

Mrs. Johnson and the Year 4 Team.
