The end of an amazing Year and the end of an era too!
I knew we would have a super year! Fabulous children, great fun and learning and brilliant support from fantastic parents and families - put it all in the cauldron and the magic spoke for itself!!!
A spell was cast and now 31 sparkling, confident, mature, polite, independent, hardworking and enthusiastic young individuals are taking their next step on the way into the big wide world!
Children, believe in yourselves, take everything you have learnt with you and follow the 7 c's!
We are so proud of each and every one of you, seeing your achievements and watching you reach your milestones and goals over the years, we will always remember you and think about you - remember we will always be here for you!
All our love and luck, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Scott, Mrs. Thomas and Mrs. Brown xxxx
It's time to enjoy a good summer holiday read!!!!!
We had an assembly this week to launch The Libraries Summer Reading Challenge - Mythical Maze!
The challenge is on - read 6 books over the holidays (finishes the weekend we return to school), collect your stickers each time you've read a book and a certificate and medal await you at school in your new class (wherever that may be!!!!)
Information has been sent home about this event, it was hugely successful last year, inspiring children to read!
You will also find a new DASP reading booklet with top tips for how to encourage the enjoyment of reading.
So, lay back in your hammock and get lost in a book (or 6) this holiday!
I shall be thinking of you all on Friday when Year 4 present their last class assembly at The Prince of Wales School! They have been a fantastic group of children and we shall miss them as they take the next steps in their educational journey. I would like to thank all the parents as well for your support and good humour over the years. I am sorry not to be able to communicate more personally my best wishes and thanks tomorrow.
Peter Farrington
PS There is still time for you to register your views about your child's experience at The Prince of Wales School through Ofsted's Parent View! Please follow the link on our website.
The past couple of weeks have been quite hectic! Last week we welcomed Richard Scott from Thomas Hardyes who helped us to film for our film project! Great fun and a great experience too!
The exciting arrival of our buddy letters and then waiting in anticipation for Transfer Day in order to meet them! Everyone came back on Friday with lots to say, even some new friends made and I was lucky enough to meet all the Year 5 Tutors on Monday who were very friendly and positive about Transfer Day - Well Done everyone!
We laucnhed out Healthy Me week with a Change for life 80 minute fitness challenge - we completed 70 minutes in one go!!!! Super fit!
Ofcourse, sports morning was on Tuesday which was very fun and successful - I am sure you will all agree the children were brilliant and very skilled and also showed good sportsmanship too! A huge thank you to the Year 8 Leaders who did an amazing job - we were all redundant! Finally a massive well done and thank you to all the good sports who volunteered to take on the Year 8s in a relay! It all added to the fun and the children really enjoyed it!
The fitness continued today with the Year 4 swimming gala - some super speedy swimming, and Mrs. Smith was really impressed at the progress made and the confidence built. Well done Catherine and Archie for completing a length of the big pool! Congratulations to the winning team - The Flying Fish - mind you, it was close between the other teams!
Tomorrow is our trip to Henry Lings, don't forget packed lunches!
A reminder as well that next Monday is Ancient Rome Day when the children will need to dress up as an Ancient Roman and sign up on the list in the cloakroom to bring in some food for the picnic on that day!
Children will also be bringing a note home tomorrow about a costume for the leavers assembly.
There are still a couple of slips outstanding for the sleepovers next week and those children have been reminded!
Finally, if you felt that you would like to make a donation to POWSA for the Fairthorne disc, I am still collecting in the classroom!
Thanks for taking the time to read this epic blog!!!!!
I just wanted to say well done to all musicians who have performed
over the last two weeks; they have shown true skills in developing their
confidence in performing, showing good progress over the school year and
enjoyment in learning! Thank you also to parents for all the support; it truly
makes a huge difference. I will be listening out for news from Middle schools in the near future!
I hope you are all looking forward to this weekend.
Planning is well underway, and we here at party HQ are all ready. There is
still time to prebook your tickets and food, so dig out that booking form, fill
it out and hand it in to the school office. We are still looking for volunteers
to help on the day, so please consider signing up for just one hour. If we all
do a little bit we all get to enjoy the party with our friends and families as
well as helping out our fantastic school. The sign up sheet is in the staff
room, so if you wish to volunteer please ask at the school office.Fingers
crossed for lovely weather! See you on Saturday.Kate and the POWSA team
